Semperoper presents special summer events
Georgian National Song and Dance Theatre presents “Legends of the Storm” / Virtuoso percussion show with "Stomp"
On 10th July Dresden’s Semperoper was finishing the 2006/07 season with a performance of Richard Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier” (The Rose Cavalier), a musical comedy in three acts.
While the opera ensemble and the Sächsische Staatkapelle are preparing for the new season, which will begin on 26th August with the opera “Die Zauberflöte” (The Magic Flute) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the doors of the opera will remain open during the summer for special events.
Virtuosity and passion, beating drums and vivacious dancing – that is the opulent stage show “Legends of the Storm”. This action-packed dance theatre show, a fascinating encounter with the soul of a nation, will be presented by the stars of the Georgian National Song and Dance Ensemble from 13th to 15th July in the Dresden Semperoper.
Following its enthusiastic reception in Paris, New York, Beijing and Moscow, the exciting stage show will be presented for the first time in Dresden.
Shortly afterwards, from 17th to 29th July, the world-famous drummers of the show “Stomp” will be giving a virtuoso percussion concert on the opera stage. The unique octet will be sweeping, threshing and snapping their way through two hours of entertainment in the opera house.
They are also expert at providing that precious aspect of entertainment – comic moments casually and laconically interspersed with the action.
