Electrotherapy (Galvanotherapy) – successful in its treatment of Cancer?
Electro Cancer Therapy, or ECT/BET in its short-form is in focus as a gentle alternative to the usual cancer therapies.
You have cancer. This diagnosis is for the patient as it is for the family and friends, a real shock. Even though cancer research is on-going and has made great strides, the diagnosis of cancer is and will stay an unwelcome surprise and it can happen to anyone.
The W.H.O. (World Health Oraganisation) says that in the year 2020, every second person will die of cancer.
Side effects of Chemo and Radiation therapy
For instance, the treatment involving Chemotherapy has a series of problems: such as nausea and hairloss. But those are the least of the problems faced by a patient undergoing Chemotherapy. The state of mind of the patient also becomes an issue an is just as important as the physical issues.
The medical practice of treating tumor cells with Chemo and Radiation therapy unfortunately doesn't only strike the bad cells, they also harm the good cells. The result of this is that the body's immune system is badly damaged and can greatly increase the patient's recovery time.
As well as the weakening of the Immune system, the producing of Metastases is especially dangerous and unavoidable.
Because of those reasons, Science is constantly searching for gentler alternatives to Chemo and Radiation Therapy. Standard medical proceedure is not always the right way to achieve the goal, which is to be Cancer free.
Alternative Cancer Therapy: ECT
An example of a new method is Electro Cancer Therapy, and sometimes also known as Bio Electrotherapy. The way this works is, that electrodes are placed directly onto the tumorous cells themselves and a continuous current is passed through the cells.
ECT: the negative/postive Therapy or also known as “Weak Current” therapy
In some fields (for example the galvanising by negative/positive in the pressure range) has been in use for decades but only recently has this therapy made it's way to the Medical field. In this instance, the current is passed through the Tumor. Through the opposing depolarisation (+/-), the result is the prouction of Hydrocloric Acid within the cancerous cells. This serves to break down the cells' membranes and because of this break down, the cancer cells are up to 10 times weaker against electric current than a healthy cell. ECT therapy is especially well suited to tumor types that are accessible via needle electrodes or those that are either through aesthetic or functional reasons non operable. Key aspects of the therapy: Prostate, Lung, Liver and Skin Carcinoma.

Dr. Gottschalck, you utilise, alongside other complementary cancer therapies as you have done for years, the so called ECT (Electro Cancer Therapy) also known as Galvanotherapy to treat cancer patients. What possibilities are available to you using these therapies?
Dr. Gottschalck: Yes, that is correct! The complementary cancer therapy is based on many years of successful treatment with several therapies which we have offered for decades. For example, the Thymus or Misteltoe therapy which is a treatment that uses Actovegin and/or Selenium. We've used these treatments for years within different therapy contexts simply to strengthen the immune system of our patients in order to give them to have a better quality of life. It doesn't have to be a serious illness like cancer, we use these treatments in our older patients as well.
In terms of the ECT treatment: The therapy is suited to a surface as well as a more deeply embedded tumor as we are able to use Electrode Needles in order to reach those. This is done in the cases where, out of aesthetic or functional reasons, the tumor is inoperable.
Let's use as examples Breast, Ear Nose Throat and Skin carcinomas such as Basilomas, Spinalioma, Melanoma and Organ metastases.
The usage of the ECT/BET treatment is also well suited to Prostate cancer and often can save the patient from going through an operation. Especially with small tumors that don't really affect the daily activities of the patient it is sometimes hard for them to opt for a big surgery.
What does ECT/BET surgery actually consist of?
The proceedure of ECT/BET therapy involves the usage of a non-invasive current directed at the tumor cells. We place two electrodes on the tumor where positive ions through a Cathode and negative ions through an Anode flow.
Through this depolarisation, the cancer cell produces Hydrocloric Acid which destroys the cell membrane.
The terms Chemo and Radiation therapy are well-known through popular science and tv shows. Can you tell our readers briefly anyway a little about those terms?

Chemotherapy in the treatment of Cancer:
Chemotherapy is the treatment of malignant tumors using special chemical substances, Zytostatica, to prevent and hinder the increase of cancer cells and through which the malignant cells die.
Especially in cancer cases such as Leukemia and Lymphomas where the cancer is present throughout the body, chemotherapy is quite effective. The other side of this treatment are the side-effects which can significantly affect (in a negative way) the quality of life of the sufferer.
Radiation Therapy:
Radiation therapy is most often used conjunction with an operation in order to destroy tumor cells that were not able to be removed. Using this method, the cancer cells are found, locally operated and should be completely removed. X-rays in specific dosages causes cell damage and the idea behind it is that healthy cells will regenerate from this faster than tumor cells.
How long has ECT been around?
Through the pioneering work in the 1970s of Dr. Rudolf Pekar from Bad Ischgl in Austria, the methodology of the Galvano treatment (as ECT was called before) was refined. Through the publication of his experiences, as well as the scientific studies from Sweden, Austria and America is man now able to implement tumor therapy with galvanised current successfully.
At this time ECT therapy is being used successfully in Germany, Austria, Italy and China.
What are the benefits of ECT?
The most important is that with ECT the danger of new Metastases growth is practically excluded because this functions as a preventative measure.
Why are, independently from the the above mentioned Therapies (operations, chemo/radiation and/or ECT), further therapies so important?
You must understand that a tumor, like the rest of our body, is made up of single cells. Through chemotherapy, for example, the tumor is systematically destroyed which is the purpose. But also, all the other cells that were otherwise completely healthy are also destroyed. Through this therapy you can experience hairloss as the hair cells are destroyed, for example. One can't disregard something like that. Radiation therapy is not much different.
Especially attacked through these therapies is the overall immune system of the patient. It is weakened and can no longer work as it should and as is necessary should the patient suffer from an illness or a reoccurrence of the tumors. The whole organism is destroyed basically and the individual can simply not live a normal life. When these things occur it of course plays a huge role on the psychological state of the patient. We try with Naturopathy to rebuild the body's immune defences.
The complementary methods seek to put the body back into its normal state in order to fight cancer and to increase the well-being of the patient. Cancer has been a familiar word, like Stress. How prevalent is Cancer within Germany?
Cancer occurs mostly in older people. The average age of of people who get this illness is 68. The average age of death, over 70 years. The total of ill males is twice as high as females.
To my knowledge, Germany sees around 340, 000 new cancer cases per year. Over 200, 000 patients fall victim to their illness. On average that is every fourth person.
With ECT one also talks of “self-healing”. You've mentioned the production of Hydrocloric Acid. What can you tell us about that?
The name “Electro Cancer Therapy” doesn't mean that the current itself causes the self healing, but that the body reacts to this therapy by healing once the current is turned off.
In this process the cancerous cells lose their “camouflage” and the Immune system begins its defense against the malignancy. Basically the defense system of the body is activated.
In order to use ECT, the correct diagnosis is prerequisite. In the Klinik Landskrone we support the whole body recovery using Immune building biologics and have already seen some success.
What does this ECT treatment cost and how long does it take?
